PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has rubbished a report that a 23-year-old man from Tripura, India died in a Malaysian hospital after being infected by coronavirus.

"Based on information that we received as of 6pm on Jan 30, there is no record of any Indian national aged 23 recorded by our laboratory that tested positive for the 2019 novel coronavirus . #FakeNews," it tweeted on Thursday night.

The report claim that the"victim" Manir Hossain, who was from Purathal Rajnagar village in Madhupur, had gone to Malaysia in 2018 and was working in a restaurant. The police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission issued a warning Monday that stern action will be taken against irresponsible parties who spread fake contents or news or rumours on the 2019 novel coronavirus .
