KUCHING: Chong Chieng Jen says that the Health Ministry has extended the contracts of all medical officers who claimed that their contracts were terminated abruptly.

The Sarawak Pakatan Harapan chairman said he brought up the matter with Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, who subsequently had a discussion with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

"The issue relating to the termination of the contracts of medical officers in Sarawak has been promptly resolved by the ministry having all the affected medical officers' contracts extended," he said in a statement on Thursday."The Pakatan Harapan government takes the issues of the people seriously and will do our level best to resolve issues concerning the people as promptly as possible," he added.

Among them were Dr Bong Ing Hui and Dr Wong Woan Hui, who received letters on Nov 13 last year that their contracts at Sibu General Hospital had not been renewed. The contract termination left them in limbo as they were unable to sit for the final part of their specialist exams, which required working in an approved hospital for not less than four years.
