Exclusive: Australians shun My Health Record with only 9 per cent ever logging in | Dana_Adele

Patients, medical specialists and pathologists are shunning the federal government's $1.7 billion My Health Record system with only a small minority accessing the digital health records almost a year into its rollout.

The official data showed only 41 per cent of pathology and diagnostic imaging services were connected to My Health Record on October 27. Nearly 90 per cent of GPs were connected, as were 90 per cent of pharmacies, 94 per cent of public hospitals and 33 per cent of private hospitals. Royal Australian College of General Practitioners president Harry Nespolon, who runs a Sydney general medical practice, said the fact that not all GPs were using My Health Record meant that its usefulness for emergency room medical staff was limited. He said pathology and medical imaging providers' systems should be upgraded to enable automatic upload of results to patients' My Health Records.

An ADHA spokesman said in a statement that the statistics on specialist practices did not reflect the whole picture.

Dana_Adele Trust the Health Departments with confidential info? They deleted our vaccination records totally once on the vacidate app. Their IT systems well out of date too. No way I’d trust them.

Dana_Adele Reason; total distrust of the corrupt LNP fascist regime maybe?

Dana_Adele I do log in frequently but there is nothing there ... none of my doctor appointements, diagnosis, perscriptions, test results, etc have been loaded there. Why is that? if there is no information, then people won't be able to use it !!

Dana_Adele Money bonfire, sorry, 'strategic reviews and implementations' are what they're good at. Consultants get to go on holidays to islands in the Pacific on the proceeds.

Dana_Adele I think we know ourselves our own health record not interested. I have never even logged into Medicare site myself. If a problem arises once a year l go into office and get served.

Dana_Adele Logged in a couple of weeks ago. Nothing. Nyet. Nada. My GP says no integration with his practice software (Healthscope). Seen clinics at both Sydney Hospital and RPAH. Nothing recorded

RachelBkr Dana_Adele What did the expect. Another fiasco

Dana_Adele The biggest issue is that the information is not there! Most doctors and hospitals can't upload info because of incompatible software. What's the point of having this system if it can't be used!

Dana_Adele It's not secure,nor fi t for purpose

Dana_Adele Smart move... they completely bastardised a good idea. Privacy issues remain one of the biggest concerns!

R_Chirgwin Dana_Adele I saw a story a day or two ago, mentioning how over 22 million people (or similar) were registered in the system. Totaly failed to mention that most of those would have been registered due to the system's default setting that registers everybody unless they specifically opted out

Dana_Adele Simple, Nobody trust Governments any more, they can’t be trust to do anything in the interest of the people

Dana_Adele It's cause there's hardly anything there. I logged in expecting to see MRIs, ultrasounds and x-rays. Perscriptions were all I could find. That's it.

Dana_Adele Yet another fail 4 this federal Govt

Severe weather events causing significant impacts on people’s healthThe President of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine says work needs to be done on health impacts, we need to acknowledge climate change as being real at a government level, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Good. Start with the brainwashed youth who've been used as pawns by older alarmists. It's nothing short of child abuse. Dr Bonning may well be the President of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine & he is entitled to his opinion but if that's all it is, as he has offered no science to support his claims, then he should just focus on the obvious & well known issues in ED departments. There is plenty of data as to the effects of both heat & cold on the human body. If the President of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine is talking about AGW then that person becomes an activist therefor closed minded.
