VANCOUVER - Frontline workers at Vancouver's Overdose Prevention Society are warning that a dangerous drug combination is causing a spike in overdoses and leaving people in a coma-like state before they can be revived.
While Friday was a particularly bad day for the sheer number of overdoses, Helton said one particular strain of "bad dope" has been causing problems for around six months. In B.C. in 2018, 1,541 people died of illicit drug toxicity, according to the BC Coroners Service, a rate of 30.9 deaths per 100,000 people in the province. As of the end of August, there had been 690 such deaths in 2019, a rate of 20.5 per 100,000.

Substituting 1 drug for another....This is not “prevention”, it’s substitution.
Progressive policies 🙄Keeping them alive while they destroy their lives one needle at a time. No programs to wean them off, no mandatory interviews and counsellors... just feeding the monster and standing on the pile of spent needles that forms your moral high ground.

These are not OD prevention sites. At best, you can call them supervised consumption sites but if people are still dying there, they are neither preventative nor safe.

This is beyond ridiculous!! Stop handing out drugs for God’s sake and do SOMETHING to stop this craziness.
Instead of handing them free drugs, paid for by hard working taxpayers, why not lock them up till they are kicked of the habit?
Who let the drugs into the facility should be the only important thing right now.
