Public hospitals short of optometrists

PUBLIC hospitals are suffering from a shortage of optometrists, with just 310 specialists at clinics nationwide, Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said. According to Dzulkefly, the shortage has led to an increase in the workload of serving specialists and indirectly reduced the effectiveness of the health system nationwide.
