The Department of Health (DOH) and health advocates on Wednesday lauded the move of President Duterte to certify as urgent the measure that seeks to increase the excise taxes on alcohol, heated tobacco, and vapor products.

“Extremely appreciate the move of PRRD to certify as urgent sin tax on alcohol and E- cigarettes, and vapes,” said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

“As such, we welcome the news that this important health measure has been certified as urgent. We now call on our senators to heed the call of the President, and quickly approve the reform,” said Sin Tax Coalition Co-Convenor Dr. Anthony Leachon.
