Traumatic childhood experiences contribute to major health problems -- including heart and respiratory disease, cancer, diabetes, and suicide -- later on in life, the CDC warns.

"We now know that adverse childhood experiences have a significant impact on an individual's future health," CDC director Dr. Robert Redfield said in an agency news release.

"Preventing traumatic experiences in childhood and initiating key interventions when they do occur will lessen long-term health consequences, and benefit the physical and emotional well-being of individuals into adulthood," Redfield said. The CDC has several efforts to prevent childhood trauma and reduce the harmful effects of such experiences.

WoW❣ I was praying one day and began to remember things from my younger days. I was able to forgive me and those who wronged me & when I got my labs I was no longer 'diabetic', I am in normal range, Thank God❣

Exactly We need to provide an enabling environment for the children as they grow up

This makes me want to have a kid and nurture it with unconditional love and hope it has the best health possible while growing up. Im not going to have kids but if I did I would Make sure nothing in that article happened to him or did trying.

“The study found that adults who reported the highest level of traumatic childhood experiences were more likely to have chronic health problems and depression, to smoke and drink, and to be unemployed” That’s nuts, my dad was abusive and i had a good amount of traumatic moments.

The darkness shall not have me

At 48, looking back I can see my actions were mirrors of dramatic childhood experiences. Not all parents are good. I say to the teenagers experiencing rough times: Take care of your thoughts and build healthy eating and health habits. Those habits might lessen any future impact.

Those with chronic pain and chronic illness almost always seem to have had something highly stressful happen in their past. The threat has usually passed but their body's perception of threat often remains - heightening baseline physiological responses and experiences.

That’s why we have to stop ACE’s (adverse childhood experiences, not only abuse and neglect but also group day-care below age three❗️
