What if you call 911 and no one comes? The current demand for health care in rural America far exceeds the supply of people necessary to provide that care. (1/6)

Pay em more. Duhh

Homeless experience no one coming scenario weekly.

no job security, no pensions, no unions, insufficient pay. communities/cities/states have these services 'contracted out' so bulk of profit goes to third party company, not staffing and equipment

Maybe because people would rather die than pay $5000.00 for a 1 mile ride?

No one wants to live in your red states. Drought then tornados. Fuck.

They could always move to the city. Know that their vote will only count as 1/10 of a human though

America, wake up your infrustructure is failing under republican control. Google PG&E power outage.

Die. Humans aren't an endangered species.

Or worse they show up and your life flighted and get an 80,000 bill you can't pay. Fix life flight services

Tell them to call 1-800-maga

Probably because HR practices not hiring people over the age of 40, or employers don’t want to pay for experienced people!

Another one of the myriad societal failures in the “greatest nation on earth”.

Maybe they should try voting Dems into office at all levels and see what happens 🤔

Sadly they get what they vote for.

So, how many of these closed hospitals are in states in which the legislators & governors refused to expand Medicaid? Who voted the Republican in to power? NotMyState

Maybe single-payer universal health coverage would help.

sorryNOTsorry for saying too much...that just sounds so 'crazy' doesn't it? :/

Maybe the current misspending on literally everything else aka so called 'child protection agencies' who are kidnapping and trafficking out children and for profit SHOULD be spent on Medical Health care that DOESN'T involve diploma mill psychiatrists who btw work closely with..

EMS services are too expensive.

Unfortunately the answer is that those who rely on the nanny state are often disappointed.

Since 2005, 160 rural hospitals have closed in the US. Fewer rural hospitals mean ambulances need to travel farther distances. When one EMS agency closes, it puts a tremendous strain on surrounding agencies that may be even farther away from care. (2/6)

Nice! Shout out to rural America’s focus on cutting taxes (for people richer than them)

Quit relying on free labor, problem solved.

What if we call for help and they charge us 1700 dollars for the drive?

No sympathy they vote consisted aginst their own interests. They vote no taxes, that is what you get.

Call BernieSanders or ewarren they will come to your aid....AND it's FREE!!

Breaking News: I’m in the ocean getting shark pussy

Sometimes it's the caller or homeowner's fault. People don't give their right physical address. Some put their 911 address right by their door that is 30-50 feet away from the road. Your 911 's have to be visible from the road. Don't blame 911 if you make your home hard to find

Very scary. I drove my daughter to hospital when she went into early labor. Every second mattered.

Thank a Democrat

Republicans cut state budgets and don't play enough and then complain about lack of services? SMFH 🤦‍♂️

Call a friend or family

jdprose Thanks trump and the GOP! Also, thanks to the rural folks for voting against their own interests time and time again! Cc PAGOP PAGOP_Field

The EMS in the small town I used to live in almost went under a couple of years ago. Most rural EMS are volunteer and rely wholly on the altruism of the community. Luckily they saved it but there were times when the ambulance didn't come because of staffing.

It is total mess & some courageous president will come and start all over again. This is greatest country on earth & over 3 Trillion dollars are spent but relieve of pains or recovery.

Local small town has voted down tax increases 3x to help fire department add critical staff and/or update old equipment. It's frightening.

Nothing new here, this has been an ongoing concern for at least a decade or two, guess it just depends on location, location, location &/or demand, funding, etc. But not a new issue rather suspect local funding & privatization🤷‍♀️

I thought folks in rural areas were the “real Americans” who pick themselves up by the ambulance stretcher and pay their own way.

I didn't think rural America believed in socialism anyway

When we have universal care as a right and entitlement, who will we force to provide care in those places?

bring back the WPA..give rural people jobs and training..it could make a difference.

Yeah the supply of doctors and medical staff will def increase enough to meet demand when we cut their salaries in half to accommodate Medicare for all

Took 20 mins for ambulance to show up and another 20 before I was taken to emergency. Thought I was having a heart attack, paramedic didnt believe me and brushed it off by saying I was having a muscle spasm because of my mattress. ER doc saidI had collapsed lung due to pneumonia.

And your next headline will be something anti gun. You don’t seem to grasp why people should first learn to protect themselves instead of relying on the government.

Good article. It would have been interesting to read what folks in these underserved areas think about 'socialism'.
