Agreement has been reached for the provision of a new treatment for people with haemophilia, according to the Irish Haemophilia Society

It will offer more protection against bleeding and instead of requiring vein access, it is injected under the skin , once a week, or once every two weeks.

The standard treatment for the past 40 years has been based on intravenous injections of the missing clotting factor.In 2018, an improved form of the intravenous injection was introduced, which could be infused twice per week.
