Despite the fact that some nausea and vomiting in pregnancy is very normal, it's still not well understood, even by health professionals. A new set of guidelines aims to correct this.

"People are frightened to use drugs. The doctors are frightened, the women are sceptical or concerned. So it's extremely important that doctors are confident to explain how modern drugs can really help without significant risks to the growing baby," Dr Lowe said. She hoped the new guidelines would help doctors treat women before their nausea and vomiting becomes severe, and empower women to make informed decisions on how to manage their symptoms.

Bullshit!!

I had morning sickness at night and let me tell you it was not in my head it was horrible and I lost weight the first 3 monrhs.

What a lot of BS my BBC partner bc got n morning sickness not me.

making up stories now if it is it wouldn't be from European Australians

OMG. These health professionals should be reported. They are failing to maintain treatment standards and need to be forced to do mandatory professional education.

Be nice to see some male journalists at the ABC. Writing some articles about men's health. For balance.

What rubbish! When will feminist victimhood whining end?

My wife’s morning sickness was in her head, on the bathroom floor, in the car, on my t-shirt and in the small waste bin at our local post office. Maybe not everything needs to be analysed to within an inch of its existence or at the very least trivialised. 😒

So, I get told the same thing all the time.

Anxiety, depression, emotional stress, family violence all make nausea and vomiting in pregnancy worse.

I bet they’re told by men it’s all in their heads or by someone who has never been pregnant.

Good grief. I thought that chestnut was discarded in the 17th Century.

Are you saying men and women are different ABC ?, big call, you genderless friends gunna be really outraged ?

As a doctor I can tell you that morning sickness is not in your head, it’s in your stomach, then involuntary muscle spasms evacuate it through the mouth-face.

They need to toughen up if they want to be treated equally.
