Junior hospital staff under limited supervision, review finds

A review of a major Victorian hospital's acute mental health wards has found junior staff were left to handle seriously ill patients with limited supervision due to rostering problems and absences.Workplace culture has been reviewed at Latrobe Regional Hospital, the largest public hospital in Victoria's Gippsland regionThe hospital board's chair has apologised to staff and pledged to adopt the review's recommendations, the largest public hospital in the Gippsland region.

The review also uncovered allegations of workplace bullying and one allegation of sexual harassment in the hospital's mental health service. Ahead of the report's release, the hospital board's chair Linda McCoy apologised to workers and pledged to adopt the review's recommendations.
