, the co-founder of the Johor Society for Performing Arts , has passed away at the age of 71 after a short battle with cancer.Iskandar Malaysia Social Hero Awards organising chairman V. Thanam described Yap's death as a loss to the arts scene in the state.
"She and her husband have been organising events and performances, especially for the Johor Arts Festival which has been held 15 times," she added. Thanam said that for her contributions, Yap was the winner of the Imsha award in 2014 for the individual category while JSPA won in the organisation category for arts and culture.
Thanam, who has known Yap for almost 15 years, said that she was a determined and passionate person who loved everything about promoting arts and culture. "She taught me that artistes need to be funded to grow. So she was very persistent and lobbied the Mentri Besar's officers and MPs for funding," she added.Stay tuned for a new offer coming to you soon.
