RMIT’s Dr Monica Barratt has told Sky News host Chris Kenny she “wouldn’t be surprised if pill testing was recommended” by the NSW coroner as a way to reduce drug-related deaths at music festivals.
Dr Barratt consulted with the coroner’s inquiry as a drug and alcohol expert and said she also expects to see a recommendation that there are “changes to policing practices at festivals”. As part of a draft report handed to the Health Department, State Coroner Harriet Grahame examined the deaths of six young people at musical festivals from 2017 to January of this year. Her findings will be handed down early next month.
Cue the prohibitionists who this won't even affect. All of a sudden people become experts in drugs & psychosocial health matters. Listen to the experts, intro drug/pill testing. Legalise, decriminalise & regulate too. Let adults choose what to use.
Either accept the consequences of testing unsafe pills from some shady drug dealers on yourself.. Or just don't do fucking drugs. If your music is so shit house you need drugs to enjoy it, pick better music
Test the people not the pills, surely!!
And yet medication dont get tested.
Great. Test says pill safe. Person dies. What are the legal consequences and who pays the negligence suit
People always have and always will take drugs & music festivals. TESTING: Saves lives regardless. Even 1 life is worth it NOT TESTING: Kills kids/people trying to enjoy said festival Yet cigs & alcohol are legal. Kill more people annually. PMOnAir pmlive
They are NOT Music Festivals...Call them Drug Parties FFS
Good 😊
