- U.S. health officials on Thursday reported 18 deaths due to a mysterious lung illness linked to e-cigarettes and other vaping products and said the number of confirmed and probable cases of the condition now exceeds 1,000.

Dr. Anne Schuchat, the principal deputy director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , told reporters on a conference call that the outbreak shows no signs that it has peaked. She said the CDC has sent staff to several states to bolster the response and get the word out to doctors about how to recognize the illness.

Judy McMeekin, an official with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, said the agency had collected more than 440 vaping product samples from 18 states for testing so far. The average age of those who died is nearly 50, with the youngest person who died in their 20s and the oldest in their 70s.

Wasn’t this due to fats/oils and cannabis? Ingredients not used in the UK? I get people in the street telling me vaping kills all the time now due to this over sensationalised story....

I thought vaping was supposed to be safer then cigarettes?

Competition between tobacco and electronic cigarettes and the strongest among those who own the media

More and more people quit cigarettes and taxes going down in budgets.A smokers' ratio is using vaping. Some cigarette smokers move to vaping and young people try vaping firstly. All E-cigarettes are Made in China and essences can even be home manufactured. LOL-dangerous for health.

So there are roughly 10.8 million vapers in the United States according to an article published by Reuters on Aug, 27th 2018. 18 people have died. Thats 0.00016666666% of vapers dead. You have a greater chance of dieing from commuting to work. ✌️

Amazing that the same products have had no problem in other countries...

It take cigarettes DECADES of heavy use to produce these kinds of disastrous health effects. Vaping hasn’t been around all that long. This is some bad shit.
