The Department of Health (DOH) reminded parents and caregivers that it is important for children to have a complete vaccination, at the same time, it should be done on schedule.

Health Undersecretary Rolando Enrique Domingo made the remark amid the reemergence of polio disease in the country.

Domingo noted that complete but delayed immunization may not have the same effect as compared to those who have it on time. “I think people should understand it better the mechanism on how to prevent disease and how vaccines work and appreciate it better… It cannot be that you will just have them immunized whenever there are outbreaks,” he added.

“No child should die from preventable causes like poliovirus,” said Albert Muyot, chief executive officer of Save the Children Philippines.
