FDA announces that low levels of a cancer-linked chemical have been found in samples of the heartburn medication Zantac.

that low levels of a cancer-linked chemical have been found in samples of the heartburn medication Zantac.colorectal and uterine cancersThe FDA said that low levels of NDMA were found in samples of ranitidine, a drug used to treat and prevent heartburn by reducing stomach acid. It's sold under the brand name Zantac.this past year.

Other heartburn drugs on the market, such as Prevacid, Nexium and Prilosec, have different ingredients and are not included in this alert. "Patients should be able to trust that their medicines are as safe as they can be and that the benefits of taking them outweigh any risk to their health," Dr. Janet Woodcock, director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, said in a statement.

"Although NDMA may cause harm in large amounts, the levels the FDA is finding in ranitidine from preliminary tests barely exceed amounts you might expect to find in common foods," the statement continued., NDMA has been detected in tobacco smoke, chewing tobacco and cured meats such as bacon. Ranitidine is sold over the counter as a heartburn medicine, but is also used as a prescription to treat stomach ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Whose is to blame for this? The US government. They permitted our pharmaceutical companies to move to China and India where quality control is second to profit. Oh, don’t depend on the FDA to protect your health. They are inept and in the pockets of big pharma.

a lot of people take zantac... stores need to remove them all from shelves so no more can buy them.. solving heartburn.. and get cancer..rather have heart burn.

.A trace of anything that could be harmful to the extent of serious ailments warrants a full disclosure as well as complete removal of all products containing such ingredients. .Medications are to heal, not cause further discomfort or issues as a result of taking them

They are thinking 'jacking' for profit.

This is much more important than vaping. How many millions of Americans depend on these daily? How many have developed cancer and died!

What the fuck

Well good thing I take the generic version 🙄

So why is asbestos being re-allowed under a SNU?

Try not to panic. You are probably ok. Just be aware. LiveLifeLimitlessly BeGratefulNotHateful

Benefitworkout *hit!!

Oh no

They make money off of poisoning our food, water, air, and medicine. Keep us sick and kill us off. There’s no way to avoid it! 😡

They prescribe this shit to pregnant women AND new born babies with reflux. What the hell!

Big pharma wins again. That heartburn medication caused 60-150k in cancer treatment. CEO live footage. ⏬ Suffering profits. That's America.

It’s not the only one there’s lawsuits for nexium an all. An one already for. This one

Has Trump mandated the chemical be dumped in our water yet?

2 1/2 years into this administration loosening regulations & putting special interests in charge of Health & Human Services, which oversees the FDA, I have to wonder what the connection is. I have to wonder how much more of this we will see.

Great! I’m dead!

FDA announces that low levels of a cancer-linked chemical have been found in samples of the heartburn medication Zantac. Made in China...likethe rest of 'our' medicines ? ?

OR the headline should say, the FDA who was in charge of inspecting this, failed.

Do I believe the fda anymore idk

Just took some today.....😱😱😱😱

maggieNYT What a coincidence, the makers of Zantac also have a Cancer division!

StilettoKhay Oh great! Is there anything we need not fear!!

maggieNYT This would have been great to know 45 minutes ago

Zantac, when u need heartburn relief! Warning: Zantac will treat ur heartburn but may cause cancer. Cancer can be treated with vaping. Vaping though, is deadly and will kill you. Ask ur doctor if vaping Zantac to cure the cancer u received from treating heartburn is right for u

Oh cool. My adopted mom died from those cancers five years ago and took it daily from what I saw.

Looks like somebody failed to contribute to party funds...

They’ll give you this for heartburn and then make twice as much off of you when you get cancer. Criminal.

Omg i use to take these for months at a time 😭😭😭

it doesn't stop...

BigPharma needs to go to jail, period !

For sure trust everything FDA says!! They approved before and now...

Damn socialist government regulations having inspectors finding this stuff and interfering with a corporations god givin right to make a profit!!

Wonder how many people have died from this? Probably more than vapes that the govt now wants to prohibit over night. Studies will remain focused on vapes to keep prohibition alive in the USA.

Pepcid?

You know what else works for chronic conditions like heartburn and gerd? A healthy diet

😱😱😱😱😱 Nooo!!! It works so well for me!
