"I'm a bit of a germaphobe. I blame the heinous streets of New York City, while my therapist says it's probably due to my obsessive-compulsive personality. But that's not why we're here, is it? Back to the germaphobe bit: Because I need to always be clean, my face-washing routine has grown to be a bit extra over the last couple of years. It usually features two, sometimes three, products: a face wipe, oil cleanser, and gel face wash.
My current favorite is the Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser, which has a nourishing marula oil base spiked with kiwi and strawberry extracts to gently remove dead skin cells and brighten skin. A little bit tends to go a long way, so after wiping my face with a cleansing cloth, I scoop out a dime-sized dollop of Slaai and gently massage it into my skin. It melts instantly — just like butter! — pulling off the day's dirt, oil, and eyeliner within seconds.
