Six Cocker Spaniel puppies have been seized at Dublin Port by the Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals with the assistance of Revenue Customs Service.
The six puppies were concealed among furniture in a van and did not have any of the necessary paperwork or vaccinations. According to the DSPCA, the puppies are in good health but at just seven weeks of age should still be with their mother/mothers. As the puppies are part of an ongoing investigation, the DSPCA said they will not be available for re-homing at this time.
The DSPCA is appealing to the public to help with any information of the location of illegal breeders, particularly any information about these particular puppies and where they may have come from. The DSPCA is a founding member of Operation Delphin, a joint operation targeting the illegal export of puppies from Ireland, which includes the HM Revenue & Customs, Revenue Commissioners of Ireland and the major SPCAs in the UK and Ireland who work together.
