Residents of Ringsend, you might want to block your noses this week

Residents of the area have been warned.

Irish Water says it would like to apologise for any odours that arise while essential maintenance works are carried out at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Ringsend in Dublin this week. Maintenance works on the plant will start on Monday and will take approximately five days, during which time Irish Water has warned that “intermittent odours” will likely emit from the plant as a result.

While people in the area will have to put up with a bad smell for the best part of this week, the good news is that the maintenance works are being carried out to reduce the risk of odours coming from the plant in future.read: “These works are essential maintenance works on one of the odour control units at the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant, and involve replacing carbon odour control media to ensure any odours generated in the primary clarifiers are effectively treated.
