I think it made the healing process a lot easier, too. I don’t even know if I would’ve stayed in the teaching profession without their help. There’s a lot of stress in my job, and there’s no way I could have kept going the way I was going.

Many people have no idea what Crohn’s is or how it affects someone’s day-to-day life. Some people think it’s just a pooping disease, but it’s so much more than that. It was also important to me to break the stigma around stomas and show what it’s like to live with an ostomy bag.Stella—that’s my stoma’s name—and my ostomy bags have given me my life back. I feel the healthiest I ever have, and I can do more than I could ever do before. I go for runs and enjoy my food again.
