Health secretary to reform system that deters senior medics from taking extra shifts

An NHS pension “tax trap” blamed for deterring senior doctors and nurses from taking on additional shifts for fear of being hit with hefty tax bills are to be overhauled, ministers have announced.

How do their Pensions compare to the average person ie are the NHS contributing the minimum required like lots of businesses in the UK or is this another government cock up where they made the package very attractive then realised it was too much

Why have a special case for wealthy NHS consultants ? I’m sure many other people in other jobs would like to gorge themselves in a similar manner ? uk

Bravo 👏 Next for the axe should be the LoanCharge which is devastating families across the country, destroying profitable companies and has cost lives. Hundreds of NHS staff impacted. There is opposition to the LoanCharge from all across the House. TimeForAction!

Most MPs will be affected by these same pension restrictions - certainly every Tory. Would be interesting to see if they’ve all paid the tax penalty.
