Health Undersecretary Enrique Domingo on Tuesday said about P3 billion from the P18.4 billion in 2018 worth of overstocked medicine remain at the Department of Health (DOH).

“We got a report from the start of the month, right now that’s down to about P3 billion worth. have been distributed, especially the ones near expiry or expiring,” Domingo said in an interview with ANC’s Early Edition.The Commission on Audit earlier stated in its reports that as of January 2018, the DOH had in its warehouses some P294.7 million worth of medicines and medical supplies with expiry dates on various days in January this year.

It also noted that P300 million worth of medicine, was nearing expiry as of Jan. 31, 2019. They also found that at least P30 million worth of expired medicine was distributed to health centers. He said that DOH will still look into what happened to the rest of the supplies stored in warehouses.
