US immigration authorities are assuring victims of Saturday’s mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, that they are not conducting enforcement operations at hospitals, reunification centres and shelters.
The men and women of ICE unite with the rest of our El Paso community in this sad and difficult time. Customs and Border Protection’s West Texas office said they were not conducting operations in the wake of the attack.Please be aware that CBP personnel including Border Patrol agents + Field Operations officers have returned to their regular duties. We are not conducting enforcement operations at area hospitals, the family reunification center or shelters.
“It is clear that these people are not reuniting with their family and that there are people who are worried or injured that did not go to hospitals likely because of their immigration status,” she said.
