Sharp disagreements among the presidential hopefuls at this week’s debates have crystallized a critical and explosive political question:

The more-centrist Democrats would preserve the current employer-based system, as well as state Medicaid programs and the insurance marketplaces created by the 2010 healthcare law.
But threatening Americans’ current health coverage has proved disastrous for previous Democratic efforts to expand protections, including President Clinton’s doomed initiative in the early 1990s. Even Republican politicians have paid steep prices for proposing to disrupt the employer-based health insurance system.
The poll also found substantial anxiety among lower-income workers and those with the highest deductibles, with 4 in 10 reporting frustration with their coverage, and nearly a quarter saying they’re angry.Medicare-for-all plans promise much lower out-of-pocket costs for American patients, eliminating high deductibles and premiums, but would raise taxes for some.

No. They're not. I believe President Warren will go back to her 'all ideas on the table' openness. Regardless of what Democrats are 'willing' to do, any legislation will be a compromise, like any other bill. It's foolish to try to nail Dems down on this at an early stage.

'Job based' health insurance inhibits our economy and the ability of our businesses to compete in a global market. Whatever model for universal health care one supports, there is little rational policy defense of a job-based health insurance system.
This is so stupid. I had to 'give up' my private insurance when I went on Medicare. It didn't hurt a bit.
