The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned the public against three different falsified rabies vaccines and one falsified anti-rabies serum circulating in the country.

In its Medical Product Alert on Tuesday, July 16, WHO identified the falsified vaccines as Verorab, Speeda, and Rabipur while the serum refers to Equirab.

Citing an ongoing rabies vaccine shortage in the Philippines, WHO said it has not received any reports or adverse reactions attributed to the said falsified products. Authorities said that Sanofi Pasteur Inc., which manufactures the authentic Verorab, Rabbies Vaccine for Human Use, Prepared on Cell Cultures , confirmed that they did not manufacture the vaccines with batch numbers H1833, H1742, N1J75V, and N1E353M.

Moreover, “falsified versions of two different combinations of batch numbers have so far been discovered” for RABIPUR, PCEC rabies vaccine for human use. The counterfeit products have batch numbers 3503 and 3479.
