The rate of skin cancer in the UK has increased by 45% in just 10 years, with package holidays and cheap flights at least partly to blame.
While melanoma is still more common in those aged over 65, rates for 25 to 49-year-olds have increased by 70% since the 1990s. Overall, the jump was from 18 cases per 100,000 people to 26.

My mother got skin cancer and she never went abroad. Quite often the cases are from sunburn in our childhood or youth before we knew the consequences of too much sun and didn't use sun cream. My doctor called it a ticking time bomb.
