When Meegan, from Perth, Australia, fell pregnant at 18, her mum was more than happy to babysit for her so that she could have a little time to work on herself. She was given medication to deal with the debilitating post-natal depression she was experiencing but it made her put on a stone in weight.Eventually, Meegan started to enter bodybuilding competitions, living off a strict diet of red meat, chicken, egg whites and occasionally, steamed veg.

As a result of Meegan's death, a national inquest into body-building supplements was launched by Australia's Ministry of Health. Ammonia is a toxic substance that causes irreversible brain damage or death when it reaches the brain.

Devastated mum calls for regulation of protein shakes after daughter dies at 25'We had no idea her obsession with health would end up killing her.' As sad as this is how can we legislate on absolutely everything. If consumers fail to research products and want a quick fix they'd ignore the warnings anyway. No pain no gain is a fact.. Although taking in extra protein from shakes, this wasn't the cause. Her genetic condition was. So calling for labelling would not have prevented this sad outcome. Most ppl pee out unused protein. The drive to get ppl to intake too much protein is another problem. Sad story but protein shakes arent to blame. A genetic condition and a woman ignoring a professional doctors advice is to blame. As usual we look to blame a product rather than the person acting stupidly
