Education, Human Resource, Science and Technology committee chairman Aminolhuda Hassan said a committee would also be formed to manage the funds and to look into the best possible ways to treat Irfan Wafiy, including going overseas for treatment.
"The fund-raiser aims to help Irfan and identify the right resources and treatment that would allow him to get better. "We will also get advice from medical experts on the best treatment available for Irfan, both locally and abroad," he said, after meeting the student and his parents here in SK Taman Bukit Dahlia.
He added that Irfan Wafiy is expected to receive treatment after sitting for his UPSR exams in September. It was reported that the boy was warded at the Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru after suffering breathing difficulties during the Sungai Kim Kim toxic pollution incident in March.The toxic pollution in Sungai Kim Kim in March affected about 4,000 residents in the Pasir Gudang area, leading to the temporary closure of 111 schools in Johor.
