THE increase of non-communicable diseases – such as diabetes and heart disease – in Malaysia is now at a worrying stage, according to Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. Based on the National Health Morbidity Survey conducted by the Ministry of Health once in every five years, the proportion of adults suffering from diabetes had risen from 8.3% in 1996 to 17.5% in 2015.
