Comedian and singer Brendan Grace fighting for his life as he battles lung cancer

The 68-year-old star has been forced to cancel his summer tour after receiving the devastating news while he was being treated for pneumonia.

“His family are a great support to him at this difficult time and respect for their privacy would be much appreciated.”“Brendan is still in hospital and will be remaining there for ongoing treatment. He is hospitalised in Ireland.” The Combine Harvester hitmaker has suffered a litany of setbacks in recent years, suffering a stroke that left him ‘looking under the influence’ as well as losing some of his toes as a result of gangrene caused by ­diabetes.

The programme, which featured tributes from the likes of Michael Flatley, Brendan O’Carroll and football legend Paul McGrath celebrated his milestone anniversary in showbiz. “Eileen often said to me about the diabetes, that she wished it was her who got it because she would be better able to discipline herself into the right thing to do, whereas I’m inclined to throw caution to the wind.
