Talks between SIPTU and health service management will resume at the Workplace Relations Commission today aimed at averting a planned one-day strike on Thursday by 10,000 HSE support staff at 38 hospitals and health facilities.

A further five strikes have been scheduled in the coming weeks should the dispute, in pursuit of pay rises, remain unresolved.

SIPTU says its members have played by the rules for four years, and that the Government has gone back on its word.
