Citing “propriety”, Lacson said the Department of Health chief should also step down from his post following reports that PhilHealth pays for the kidney treatments of dead beneficiaries as part of a supposed modus by the WellMed Dialysis Center.
But the senator said he was not after Duque specifically, even as he recalled on Thursday the former PhilHealth president’s involvement in the controversial transfer of the P530-million Overseas Workers Welfare Administration funds for the distribution of free insurance cards amid former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s reelection bid in 2004.
“Mas mabigat pa nga kung tutuusin ang responsibility ng chairman kasi siya namumuno ,” he also noted. But Lacson maintained the “relevance” of the controversy to the latest PhilHealth mess since both involved tax payer’s money.
