Harsh federal laws clash with state legalization.

U.S. veterans who use medical marijuana to treat pain and other ailments say they face losing job training or other benefits even though it’s legal in the states where they live.

Vets are “confused about what they can and cannot use,” said H.R. 2191 sponsor Rep. Greg Steube , who served in Iraq himself and who has spoken to veterans who have been denied benefits or are scared to see their VA doctors because routine drug testing would flag their marijuana use. the National Institute on Drug Abuse. As of April 2019, only eight researchers nationwide have received federally-approved marijuana this year, NIDA has said.

“There’s a huge disconnect between the way that the government is treating cannabis and the way much of the rest of the country is discussing it,” said Jeremy Butler, the CEO of that group. which advocates for younger vets. “We feel it’s completely wrong to say we’re not going to have this conversation.”

“She said, ‘No one is going to hire you because you use medical cannabis,’” recalled the vet, who asked not to be identified. But he struggled with pain and PTSD for years after being injured at age 21. He has found that marijuana has helped him — and let him cut back on other drugs with more side effects. “My 20s were a blur,” he said. “In 10 years, I’ve never been this stable.”Get the latest on the health care fight, every weekday morning — in your inbox.

Sad, cruel and shame on our government.

File civil lawsuits 😍 What part of 'MEDICAL CANNABIS' don't they understand

This is crazy. And cruel.

If the government will deny vets what they need to treat the conditions caused by the environments that the government put them into, then why should anybody want to fight for that kind of government? They're fighting to oppress themselves ...

Yea - so much better to load them up with addictive drugs big pharma can over charge them for 🤬 Everything is about greed.

I have a friend who is addicted to Oxy because the VA prescribes it to him like candy. He felt that medical cannibas would help, but risks losing his benefits if he tries it even though it is medically legal where he lives. The system has failed myself, & my brothers/sisters.

And Mitch is busy with age limits on smoking and paying off Russians who build on KY.

So...they should just go back to opioids?

Hey HouseGOP HouseDemocrats SenateGOP SenateDems, few government actions are as cheap to implement as a removal of existing enforcement.

What? Just 2-3 years ago there was real movement towards medical marijuana to prevent vets from getting hooked on painkillers. What happened?
