Seven patients whose cancer diagnoses were delayed at University Hospital Kerry, in Tralee, have died, the South/South West hospital group has confirmed.

Last December, the official review into the controversy, found that 11 patients had been identified as having been affected and four had died at that stage. It said that all eleven patients had appropriate care and treatment following diagnosis.

Kerry TD, Danny Healy-Rae, has called for a fuller investigation into the matter and said he was not happy with the level of investigation so far, given seven families were bereaved. The images reviewed were the work of a single consultant radiologist, a locum, working the hospital during the period.
