From being told her daughter probably wouldn’t reach her first birthday to training with her for the Scotiabank half-marathon the day after she turns 10, Cherie Ehlert is almost at a loss for words.

“Turning 10 is big and Charlie wanted to do something big for the fund,” Ehlert said. “We’ve been training for awhile, I turned up the speed on her electric chair all the way.” “Thinking back to when we threw that first birthday party, there were friends from Facebook there, there were strangers we’d never met in person,” Ehlert said.

As it is, Ehlert said she hadn’t seen a drug work such wonders as Spinraza since HIV drugs came out and saved lives.
