1 / 2A Kentucky teenager who made headlines when he sued a local health department over its vaccination policy has now come down with chickenpox.
Kunkel, who opposes vaccines due to his religious beliefs, reportedly understood the risk and still does not regret the decision. Kunkel sued the Northern Kentucky Health Department in March after it ruled that all students at Sacred Heart Assumption Academy who hadn't been vaccinated against chickenpox could no longer come to classes amid an outbreak of the disease, which began in February and included 32 confirmed cases.
You can’t fix stupid. I only hope he didn’t infect anyone during the period he was sick, because there are people that can’t take the vaccine for medical reasons (allergic people or people with immunodeficiency) and can die in rare cases...

GreatDismal In my family we just don't become immune to chickenpox for some reason. Had them several times as a kid, and the vaccine doesn't stick. I rely on people vaccinating themselves so I don't get shingles at some point. I reserve the right to kill a motherfucker if I DO get shingles.

I've had chicken pox... my kids got chicken pox... we were all vaccinated... but it didn't seem to help.- I'm 60- my eldest is 40- my youngest is 26- when I was pregnant my doc was more concerned about whether or not I had ever had german measles... & vaccinated me for that.
I bet the school is happy to have dodged that bullet. Can you imagine how many kids would be infected if he was allowed to go to school or compete with other schools?

I had a friend back in high school get chicken pox our senior year. Her parents were 7th Day Adventists, so she hadn’t been vaccinated. Her parents didn’t let her attend graduation because it was on a Saturday :(
