New mum left devastated after identical twin babies are both diagnosed with cancer

New mum, 20, left devastated after her identical twin babies both diagnosed with cancerBy Holly ChristodoulouA NEW mum has told of her devastation after her identical twin baby boys were both diagnosed with cancer.

As a result, little Emre and Elijah have now spent most of their short lives in hospital undergoing gruelling chemotherapy. The boys' problems started just three weeks after they were born, with Elijah developing a strange lump on his right cheek and both suffering colds that never went away.Nicole and partner Nile then noticed Emre had the same mysterious lump but medics were stumped when blood tests failed to find the problem.

But as doctors worked to save him, his brother also fell ill and was placed in an induced coma for his own breathing problems.'I WAS A MESS'"And when one of the consultants said she was worried about Emre's blood too and he began displaying the same symptoms, I was just a mess." Nicole said: "Tuesday was great because that's how I remember them, giggling and smiling. When they are happy we're happy, they are steering our emotions.Leukaemia is a type of blood cancer which effects cells in bone marrow and attacks the immune system.Acute leukaemia is when it is progressing aggressively and requires immediate attention.
