EX EastEnders star Laurie Brett was motivated by her mum to strip in the Full Monty after her family was left devastated by cancer

EX EastEnders star Laurie Brett has revealed her mum convinced her to strip in the Full Monty after her family was left devastated by cancer.

“She’s 72 this year. The first time she had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy, the second time she had chemo. It knocked her for six. It was a frightening time.” Laurie, pictured in 2006 with fellow EastEnders stars James Alexandrou and Charlie Clements said she wanted to do the show to make a difference: “Luckily, nothing has ever shown up yet. When my mum was first diagnosed, the doctor told her, ‘Laurie should be screened from 40.’“I’m very aware of breast checking. Everybody’s got lumps and bumps in their breasts, it’s about knowing what’s different. I wanted to do the show to make a difference.
