The CSIRO has developed a new nutrition and exercise plan to encourage people to include the important nutrient in all main meals.

Based on a range of scientific studies, the book contains 115 healthy, higher protein recipes - including plant-based meals. "We really focus on translating the science into practical, realistic things that people can eat on an everyday basis," Dr Bowen said. "The idea is that protein should be spread nice and evenly throughout the day but it's certainly not telling us not to eat other food groups as well so it's quite an inclusive diet," Ms Chryssidis said.
