As many as 40% of cancer cases — and up to half of cancer-related deaths — could have been prevented. That’s according to a new study from the American Cancer Society , which measured the impact of modifiable risk factors for 30 types of cancers among adults over age 30. Some of those factors were cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, excess body weight, dietary choices, ultraviolet radiation and certain viral infections.
