Focusing on strengths, not 'the gap', will help improve Indigenous healthOnly looking at the size of 'the gap' doesn't tell us anything about how things are going for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Instead, it may hide the progress that is happening and decrease people's willingness to adopt healthy practices. If you constantly tell someone they are a victim, and there is someone to blame for their victimhood - they will never be anything more than an angry victim.. BOTH! I'm a great believer on focusing on children strengths and working on their weaknesses. We focus too much on what children can't do and not enough on what they can.
