The mother of a Bondi Junction stabbing victim has called on the government to address critical gaps in Australia’s mental health system.

The mother of a woman killed in the horror Bondi Junction stabbing attack has addressed Parliament House, calling on the government to improve mental health support across the country.

There has been a spate of high-profile domestic violence cases and multiple violent stabbing attacks across the nation in recent months., killed six people – including Jade Young – and severely wounded many more in a knife attack at Bondi Junction Shopping Centre. Ms Young recounted: “Within hours of her death in the hideous aftermath, our New South Wales families were given unconditional support.”

“After the horror of the Bondi Junction stabbings, the federal and state and territory governments committed to a national mental health ministers’ meeting," Ms Young said.Health Minister Mark Butler has said health and mental health ministers have scheduled to meet in the coming weeks.
