When will Tszyu be back in the ring? | 00:58Curtis Scott has emerged as a surprise contender for Sonny Bill Williams’ expected return to heavyweight boxing later this year, after initial plans for the New Zealander to fight a former world champion fell apart in recent weeks.
Scott is set to throw down against Hall on the undercard of Australia’s unbeaten world title contender Sam Goodman, who is himself risking a guaranteed $1 million payday against Japanese megastar Naoya Inoue. For Scott too, the card looms as his chance to position for a lucrative crossover headliner against SBW, who has already had talks about returning to the sport in September or October.
Only days after making the revelation however, the former WBA world champ was kayoed in the first round of his fight against Hemi Ahio, which took place on the undercard of George Kambosos versus Vasiliy Lomachenko in Perth. As a result, Scott’s manager Titus Day says that should his client beat Hall next Wednesday, he will then speak with promoters No Limit about securing another big name target for the end of this year – with Williams set to become the top name being discussed.
Day said that, should his client beat Hall, he would then open talks with No Limit about making a fight with the now NRL commentator, who has lost only one of 10 fights since making his 2009 debut. However, there are now suggestions the former footballer is already making preparations for a return to the ring this year.
