They have a shop featuring soaps, lotions, and other products made from goat milk collected on their farm.FLORALA, Ala. - Two women in Covington County are striving to enrich the lives and the health of others through their farm and small business.“It was about a goat and the Lord is how we got together,” said Dakota.When their families met, that desire blossomed into a goat farm where Jayme and Dakota tirelessly crafted goods to sell.
”We started in farmers markets, we had to keep our day jobs and we worked the weekends, and we hustled until we were able to open up a brick and mortar,” said Jayme. Today, they have a shop featuring soaps, lotions, and other products made from goat milk collected on their farm.“They put on chemicals in their hair, they put chemicals on their body, not even knowingly,” explained Jayme. “And sometimes it’s just as simple as changing bath products, and it can take away a lot of issues.””That right there is what makes it worth it,” said Dakota.
While their farm has fueled the business’ success, the two are most proud of how they have shaped it into a sustainable resource for their families. “I love living off my land,” revealed Jayme. “We’re ‘farm-to-skin’ but we do live on our farm and we utilize our land, we utilize all of our animals.”“It’s important we’re raising our kids in that. Our children are going to know where our food comes from and when to thank someone for that and be respectful of it and you know, honor our land and respect our land,” said Dakota.
