Parents can receive extra financial support if they're child has a health condition or disability

Parents could get nearly £200 a month to help pay for extra costs with their children. The Disability Living Allowance can be provided to help with the extra costs associated with looking after a child under the age of 16 who has difficulties walking or needs more looking after than a child the same age who doesn't have a disability.

There are three care components to DLA which determine how much you may get. The lowest rate is available for children who only need help for some of the day while the middle rate is for children who need frequent help or supervision during the day and night or need someone to help them while they're on dialysis.

There are also two mobility components that help determine how much you will get. The lowest rate is for children who can walk but need help or supervision outdoor while the highest rate is for children who cannot walk, can only walk a short distance without severe discomfort, become ill if they tried to walk, or are blind or severely sight impaired.

A child's disability or health condition must also impede their ability to walk around and require them to have more looking after than a child of the same age without a disability.
