It was confirmed in January 2023 that Michael Flatley had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of cancer.

The idea for Flatley Irish Whiskey was brought to life when he began the multimillion pound restoration of his beloved Castlehyde in Cork. It’s 30 years since Michael was propelled onto the world stage when he fronted Riverdance for the first time when Ireland hosted the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin’s Point Theatre.
“I had been touring with The Chieftains for 10 years on and off and I had been getting standing ovations, so I knew that I could have that line of dancers filled with handsome guys and pretty girls behind me while I was at the front of the stage.
