A salmonella outbreak linked to precut melon has affected 117 people in 10 states, the CDC says

The CDC and the Food and Drug Administration say the likely source of the outbreak is Caito Foods LLC in Illinois, but the investigation is ongoing. On April 12, Caito voluntarily recalled several types of precut melon sold at Kroger, Target, Trader Joe's, Walmart, and Amazon.com under the Whole Foods label. The recall includes precut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and precut fruit medley products.

"If you cannot determine if any precut melon you purchased was produced by Caito Foods LLC, don't eat it and throw it away," the CDC said. No deaths have been reported. Salmonella is to blame for 1 million cases of foodborne illness in the United States every year, according to the CDC.

Are you that lazy you can’t cut your own fruit?

Hand to god, I ate some “precut” fruit from Whole Foods yesterday. Shortly after, sudden onset of fever and .... all the symptoms. It was over by this morning. FFS.

This is getting to be a weekly occurrence! 😬. What happened to all the safeguards? Salmonella

So we should pay approximately 1/10 the price, cut the fruit ourselves, and not waste a plastic container? Interesting...

DanielaTerminel ponte las pilas a ti que te encanta todo cortado ya 😂

If you are too lazy to cut your own fruit...….. OK I'm not going to say it! And what about all those plastic containers!

Now, there's outrage but MSG is okay.

I wanted to die now!!! Vultures can eat dead, rotten, and spoiled meats but we cannot. Little bacteria or virus can kill us.

♥ ♥

I'm eating precut melon right now. Heh.
