A total of 156 people across 10 states have been infected with the strain of E. coli implicated in the latest outbreak, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

Almost 160 people across 10 states have been infected with the strain of E. coli spreading across the country in the latest outbreak, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

Twenty people have been hospitalized so far, but no one has died or suffered from kidney failure, health officials said. The patients range from 1 to 83 years old. "USDA-FSIS and state regulatory officials are continuing their traceback investigations to determine the source of raw ground beef supplied to grocery stores and restaurants where ill people reported eating," the CDC said.

The CDC, several states, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service and the Food and Drug Administration are investigating the multistate outbreak.
