Lanarkshire university students have been helping Partick Thistle’s squad ensure they are fit and on the ball for the big kick-off of the new football season.
Now their work will be used to help created individual programmes for each footballer to enhance performance and reduce injury risk, as Kris Doolan’s squad get set for their Championship campaign – with the newly-announced fixtures including a return trip to Hamilton in September for the first of their four meetings with promoted Accies.
Students played a “pivotal role” in conducting the tests, gaining hands-on experience which the university says provided “an invaluable opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in sports science to real-world scenarios”. UWS sports performance lecturer Dr Mykolas Kavaliauskas said: “We are dedicated to delivering exceptional educational experiences, and collaborating with Partick Thistle allows our students to engage directly with professional athletes.
