THE World Health Organization (WHO) reported that 400 million people, or 7 percent of the world's population, live with alcohol use disorders, with over 200 million of them being dependent on alcohol.

THE World Health Organization reported that 400 million people, or 7 percent of the world's population, live with alcohol use disorders, with over 200 million of them being dependent on alcohol.In its Facebook post on June 25, WHO raised awareness of the rising concern for alcohol consumption.'This dependency often manifests as an inability to quit or reduce drinking and a necessity to function with alcohol.

Men accounted for 2 million of these deaths, compared to 600,000 among women.Globally, an estimated 400 million people ages 15 years and older, or about 7 percent of the population, lived with alcohol use disorders, including 209 million with alcohol dependence, with 3.7 percent of adults, said WHO.In 2019, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation estimated that 39,802 Filipinos died from causes linked to alcohol consumption.
